Santa Clara, CA, USA
November 2008.

The decision was taken.  Many calls were made. Many forum posts were read. New items were bought. Many were sold. The ones that didn’t were left near the trash bins.  Others were packed and shipped.  Flight ticked were booked. Goodbyes and farewells followed. Cellphones and other electronic devices were turned off once the seat-belt sign came on.

Customs forms were filled. Walked through the Green Channel. Familiar faces greeted with a waiting call taxi.

Chennai, India
November 22, 2008.

The jump was complete.

Nuts…

Thats how the last season of Jericho ended, with the word “Nuts…” and then with sounds of rapid gun fire. A lot of fans (including myself) waited with excitement for the following season, only to learn that CBS had decided to drop the show due to low viewership. Bummer! It was almost entirely the fault of the studio that caused the drop in audience. First, a mid season hiatus and then when it did come back it was pitted against American Idol. It really had no chance. After performing a depressing postmortem, all of us left in search of the next great serial.
A few weeks later, I got an email from a friend. It was the usual, an online petition to CBS, to bring back Jericho. I signed it knowing well that it will go the way of other similar petitions I’ve signed over the years. What I didn’t know was that there was a storm brewing in the background, a plan so devious that it would leave CBS speechless. Meanwhile, I was following up on the Jericho forum, where some of the actors started posting their support to the supporters.
After a few more weeks, there was news CBS offices in NY and LA had received a whole bunch of nuts, more than 20 tons of it…! And then the unbelievable happened. CBS ceded to the fans requests and signed up to bring Jericho back for a shortened season (since it was too late for a full season). How often does that happen. This is only the fifth time ever. That day is tomorrow. February 12, 2008. If you haven’t seen the first season yet, you can catch up online on CBS. Here are some previews for the upcoming season. It sure looks worth the wait.

The thing about Manning

•February 5, 2008 • Leave a Comment

I guess the XLII superbowl has been beaten to death in the last few days. I’m not a big football fan but Giants vs. Patriots, I didn’t want to miss. What a game it turned out to be. In keeping with the US tradition, I supported the underdogs. I knew Eli didn’t have a chance but that didn’t matter. The way he broke out of the sack (I have no idea how!)… that was it. Everyone was waiting for the Pats to make history but it wasn’t meant to be… at least not this year. But we did witness history. The team that stopped the unstoppable.
Hats off to the Mannings… two in a row. Who would’ve thunk?

Why do today what you can do tomorrow!

Like many many other I’ve been tempted to write a weblog ever since the blog mania started. Even I do not know what kept me from doing it. Like the title says, it could be that I was conforming to the procrastinator’s creed. This is like those who wait for a *deal* to buy things, be it cameras, televisions, etc. What they miss out in the waiting is probably more valuable than the little saving they make. This is probably too broad a statement, but I think is true for the most part.

Anyways, I have made a start. Let us see where this goes.
